Welcome

Dear Families and Supporters of Our Lady of Guadalupe School,

Welcome to “OLG Rocks!,” our 52nd annual school auction! Tonight, we gather with joy, excitement and enthusiasm to raise money, and our paddles, to support our students.

We thank you for being here, participating and engaging in our largest fundraising event of the year. With your help and support as a community, we are able to continue making great opportunities available for our students, faculty and staff. Investing tonight means investing in the future of OLG, in our mission and philosophy and in all that we stand for as a community. Through your generosity and thoughtfulness, you allow us to continue making OLG a place where all are welcome.

This year, our school theme is “We are Called: Embracing the Yes! Over the course of the next few hours, I pray that you too will find ways that you are called to say yes! Funds raised here tonight support every single child in our building and allow them to have access to excellent educational resources. They also provide our incredible teachers and staff opportunities to continue to grow as lifelong learners; modeling for our students, what it means to have a commitment to excellence. Finally, funds raised here tonight help us to care for our campus as a facility, making it welcoming and safe for our learners.

Our community here at OLG is a phenomenal place because of people like you. Our students blossom at OLG, in high school and in the greater community because of the experiences, education and foundation established within these walls, and through the opportunities provided and created for each of them. We are who we are because of our continued commitment to our mission, and truly are a community that “fosters Gospel values, inspires academic excellence and develops service and leadership.” Tonight, we ensure that this continues. Every dollar raised has an impact, just like every person here tonight, leaves a mark. Thank you!

OLG Rocks! is more than just an auction theme. It’s the truth! Tonight, we acknowledge people in our community who rock—all of you! We especially acknowledge and appreciate the hard work, dedication and exceptional leadership of our Auction Co-Chairs, Courtney Armitstead and Heather Fernandez, without whom, tonight would not be what it is. We thank our Development Director, Carla Mayuri, for all the work that she has done as well to support the auction team, and fundraising efforts. To our volunteers, donors, sponsors and vendors too, we thank you!

Raise a glass, raise a paddle, raise some funds! Have an exceptional evening and celebrate the plethora of ways that “OLG Rocks!” Celebrate our students and our community as a whole, what a gift it is to have each of you hear this evening. Cheers to all of you, and thanks once more.

With Gratitude,

Professionals

Emceed by Brian Callanan

We are so excited to have one of OLG’s very own emcee this event! Brian Callanan is a host and moderator for the Seattle Channel’s award-winning public affairs programs and a five-time Emmy winner. Brian and his wife Christa are long-time parishioners at Our Lady of Guadalupe, and their daughters Emma (class of ’17) and Charlotte (class of ’20) are both OLG School graduates. Brian organizes OLG’s annual “Loop the ‘Lupe” obstacle course event, and you might catch him singing and playing saxophone alongside OLG Music Director Ann Sager in their band, The Superchargers!

Production by Live Oak Audio Visual

A local, family-owned audiovisual company with a hi-tech, forward-thinking, community-minded, and environmentally-conscious approach to events.

Music Selection by DJ Lumberjack Jones

Thank you to Paolo and Rachel, parents to an OLG kindergartener, for donating their time and talents as this evening’s featured house DJ!

HOW TO PLAY

Teamwork makes your DESSERT DREAMS work! Your TABLE is your TEAM. Whilst seated at dinner, place your bid number and the amount you want to individually contribute on this bid card. Your table’s bids will be combined to determine which table will go first. The highest-bidding team gets the first choice of desserts from the Dessert Dash Table. Second highest bidder gets a second choice, etc. The auctioneer will announce each table from highest to lowest. Make sure that your designated runner is ready to race to the dessert table. If they take too long, the table next in line may steal your dessert!

Auction Games

Head-banging or Tail-shakin’

One lucky winner will split the money raised through this fun rendition of heads or tails. Each chance (necklace) sold for $25. Max of 5 necklaces sold per person. Purchase necklaces before 7:00 p.m. to secure your chances!

How to play:

At the start of the game, the auctioneer will ask participants to stand up. The auctioneer will say, “Place your hands on your head (HEADS) or on your back (TAILS).” The auctioneer will flip a coin, if it lands on heads, then all participants with hands on their heads will remain standing. Those with their hands on their backs will be out—unless you purchase multiple chances (necklaces) to stay in the game. If you have multiple necklaces, remove one and continue onto the next round. Game continues until one person remains standing—the winner!

Cornhole Wine Challenge

Hit us with your best shot! For $20, you get three chances to win a bottle of wine in this cornhole challenge. There is no limit on the number of tickets purchased. Play while supplies last. Once the wine is gone, the game will close.

How to play:

Each ticket gives you THREE tries to score wine! Toss a beanbag with the aim of making it through the platform hole. Make two shots and score a bottle from the VIP stash (while supplies last). Score one and you get a bottle valued at $20 minimum.

NOTE: All wine purchased(?) through this game must remain unopened at the event and taken to your home for consumption under WA State law.

An invoice summarizing your purchases will be emailed to you following the event. Your payments that exceed the value of the item are tax deductible as a charitable contribution only to the extent allowable by law. OLG is a 501-C Organization.

Fund-a-Need

But I would walk five hundred miles

And I would walk five hundred more

Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles

To fall down at your door

The Proclaimers, I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)

More than 500 miles have been walked in the halls of OLG over the decades, and while we love our 80’s rock, “falling down at the doors” isn’t something we aspire to do here at OLG!

Come in through the main doors, and you’ll notice that our carpet is doing “the wave,” and not in a fun way. It’s time for us to replace it, make OLG look as sharp as the content we teach, and make it a safe place to walk each day!

This year’s Fund-a-Need will not just tackle the carpet, but all additional funds raised will help us to take care of some long overdue deferred maintenance on campus that we must address to keep the campus rockin’! This includes, but is not limited to repairing the heaters, door repairs, continued maintenance of our plumbing, interior painting, etc.

This year’s goal is $25K, and we are confident that with your support, we can surpass that and tackle so much more! So, raise a paddle! Replace the carpets! Let the kids shout, “The Heat is On!” Fix the doors and do all the things that keep us rockin’ and rollin’ at OLG for 500 new miles, and then perhaps, 500 more!

Harmony Totems:

Notes in Nature (Set of 3)

Valued at $600

The 7th grade presents this set of 3 garden totems to colorfully accent your yard and garden. The totems were created by asking the 7th graders to each make small paintings expressing “music” and what it means to them. The students chose themes of musical notes, symbols and instruments, particular musical artists, and the feelings they have about music expressed through color and shape. Let these lively garden totems harmoniously enhance your outdoor spaces and show your support for OLG.

Each post comes with a solar powered LED post cap and black powder-coated post hardware to install into the ground.
